About the Opportunity

MillTech Recruitment is working with one of the UK's largest independent transport planning consultancies, which are looking to recruit an experienced Associate Highway Engineer to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established Highway Engineer or Senior Engineer looking to take the next step into an Associate-level position, with increased responsibility, greater client exposure and the opportunity to influence the direction of the business.

You'll take ownership of technically challenging projects, lead client relationships, mentor developing engineers and play an active role in winning new business. It's an opportunity to move beyond purely technical delivery and develop your career across project leadership, commercial management and team development.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include

• Leading highway design projects, ensuring delivery to programme, budget and quality standards.
• Developing and reviewing designs in accordance with DMRB, Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20 and TSRGD.
• Providing technical leadership and resolving complex design challenges.
• Undertaking and reviewing junction modelling, traffic forecasting and technical assessments.
• Preparing highway design inputs for Transport Assessments and technical reports.
• Managing client relationships and liaising with highway authorities and project stakeholders.
• Overseeing project resources, budgets and financial performance.
• Mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development.
• Contributing to business development, fee proposals and work-winning activities.

About You

You'll ideally have

• Significant highway design experience within a consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of highway design standards, guidance and legislation.
• Experience leading projects and managing budgets and programmes.
• Experience with junction modelling and technical assessments.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and GIS.
• Knowledge of SPONS for highway cost estimates.
• Excellent communication, client management and leadership skills.
• Membership of ICE, CIHT or CILT.
• IEng or CEng status, or working towards chartership, would be advantageous.
