A UK engineering consultancy that designs and builds bespoke systems for industrial test, measurement, control and IIoT. Projects land on live sites across healthcare, aerospace, automotive, energy and R&D, so the work moves quickly from schematic to something you can put a hand on.

Company mission

Designing test, measurement and control systems that help manufacturers run better, faster and safer processes.

Role Overview

A field-based role focused on the electrical and electronic design of automated test equipment and process control systems, from requirements capture through onsite commissioning. Priority is on the southern corridor, with Oxfordshire ideal given the current project mix. Whether you join as a System Engineer or Senior depends on fit and experience.

What You'll Own

Electrical and electronic design

  • Designing electrical circuits and systems for ATE and process control, end to end
  • Selecting measurement hardware based on the customer's specification
  • Working through signal integrity, grounding and shielding on real hardware
  • Drawing schematics and circuit diagrams, ideally in EPlan
  • Presenting designs at customer design reviews and handing over to production

Delivery and commissioning

  • Onsite installation and commissioning of hardware and software systems
  • Programming memory and speed efficient data acquisition and control applications
  • Developing intuitive graphical user interfaces
  • Debugging across combined hardware and software systems
  • Ongoing support, updates and testing on delivered systems

Project and customer work

  • Full lifecycle project delivery as part of a small team, with project size scaling to experience
  • Requirements capture, technical proposals and responding to RFQs alongside business development
  • Writing specifications, test plans and user manuals to a quality standard
  • Technical presentations and demonstrations to customers, colleagues and partners

What We're Looking For

Must-Have

  • Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or a close variant such as control systems or electronics and communications
  • Hands-on experience in measurement and instrumentation design
  • Experience delivering systems for test
  • eCAD experience, EPlan preferred
  • Comfortable debugging across hardware and software
  • Requirements capture and writing technical proposals
  • Full, clean UK driving licence and own vehicle
  • Legal right to work in the UK and a valid passport for occasional overseas travel
  • Flexibility to travel around 50% of the time, sometimes at short notice

Strongly Preferred

  • National Instruments hardware (DAQmx, cRIO, PXI) and LabVIEW, including FPGA and Real Time
  • NI certifications: CLD, CLA, CTD, CTA or CLED
  • PLC work with Siemens, Allen Bradley or similar
  • Text-based programming in Python, Java, C or C++
  • Machine safety: EN 13849 or IEC 62061, plus Machinery Directive and Low Voltage Directive
  • 18th Edition
  • Object oriented principles
