Credit funds spend weeks of analyst time screening deals that mostly never close. This early-stage team has built AI agents that do that analysis in about an hour, and funds are already paying to use them on live deals.

Role Overview

You will be the first engineering hire, taking over a production platform from the CTO with nobody above you in engineering. Clients rely on it today. You will shape the next stage of the product, set how the team builds, and help choose the next two engineers. Full-time, hybrid in London. £120,000 plus founding equity.

What You'll Own

Evaluation

• Build a pipeline that scores agent output against analyst-reviewed ground truth, replacing review by eye
• Design scoring for outputs where quality is partly a judgement call

Orchestration

• Multi-agent workflows where a lead agent coordinates research and drafting subagents
• Move from single start-to-finish runs to workflows that pause for human input and resume when new information arrives

Financial Modelling Agents

• Agents that build and iterate real Excel models an analyst can open and audit
• Link model figures into the written reports so every number is cited, the foundation for most of the roadmap

Platform

• Document AI pipeline turning inconsistent PDFs, charts and spreadsheets into structured, queryable data
• Agents and their MCP tools
• The web app where users review output and trace each figure back to its source

Team

• Set engineering practices for a small team and help hire the next two engineers

The Stack

• Python and FastAPI
• Claude Agent SDK, Pydantic AI and MCP tools for lead and subagent orchestration
• PostgreSQL with pgvector and full-text search
• LLM document extraction pipelines
• Next.js, React and TypeScript
• AWS and Terraform

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Around 5 to 6+ years of professional engineering, with range and judgement weighed above years served
• Agent systems in production that real users depend on, including hands-on work with retrieval, context, tool design and orchestration
• Strong Python in an async, API-driven codebase
• Confident in TypeScript and React, able to take a feature from database migration through to the UI
• Daily, skilled use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor
• Comfortable inheriting a codebase someone else built and setting standards for a small team

Useful

• Evals, retrieval or document extraction pipelines you have built and measured
• Exposure to finance, real estate or another field where accuracy and auditability matter (domain expertise already sits in the team)
• Early-stage startup or small team experience owning outcomes end to end
