Job Description

Lev Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Principal Designer / CDM Consultant on behalf of a leading international construction consultancy supporting a major, long-term defence infrastructure development programme in Derby.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a significant and technically complex programme, delivering specialist CDM and Principal Designer services across major construction and infrastructure projects.

Candidates with substantial experience may be considered at a more senior level, potentially up to Associate Director, depending on qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver Principal Designer and CDM consultancy services in accordance with CDM Regulations 2015.
• Advise clients, designers and project teams on their statutory health and safety responsibilities.
• Identify, assess and coordinate the management of design-related health and safety risks.
• Prepare and review pre-construction information and Health & Safety Files.
• Undertake health and safety audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary design, construction and project management teams.
• Manage multiple commissions while maintaining strong client relationships.
• Support the delivery and development of high-quality consultancy services.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as a Principal Designer, CDM Consultant or CDM Advisor.
• Strong knowledge and practical application of CDM Regulations 2015.
• Experience delivering CDM services on complex construction or infrastructure projects.
• Relevant construction or health and safety qualifications, ideally including NEBOSH Construction.
• Relevant professional membership, such as IOSH or APS.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.

Experience within major infrastructure, engineering or other highly regulated environments would be advantageous.
